can be simply defined as areas
of land containing wet soils and wetland vegetation. Wetlands are
extremely important because of their important roles in managing our most
precious resource, WATER.
From a vegetative standpoint,
un-managed wetlands
are quickly becoming degraded by invasive plants
and fire suppression. On the up side, there are several management techniques
that can be used to
protect and enhance wetland areas.
Why is a wetland important?

- wildlife habitation
- water filtration
- water containment during heavy
rain events
